German-born Maria Reiche dedicated 40 years to studying and preserving the Nazca Lines. Known as the “woman who swept the desert,” she mapped geoglyphs, published key research, and secured UNESCO protection. Her legacy endures in Peru’s history and the Maria Reiche Museum.
