Nestled in the sun-drenched southern region of<a href=\"https:\/\/viajesmachupicchu.travel\/en\/tips-for-travelers\/all-about-peru-updated-information\"> <strong>Peru<\/strong><\/a>, it is famed for its golden dunes, storied past, and \u2013 most importantly \u2013 its love affair with grapes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Welcome to the Festival de La Vendimia de Ica, a festival where tradition and revelry collide, and every grape seems to have a personality of its own. This grape harvest festival will be held from the 7th to the 17th March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Are you in? So, grab a glass of pisco, wine, or cachina, sit back, and join us for an adventure into one of Peru\u2019s most delightful and whimsical cultural celebrations!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Origins: From Vine to Pisco<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Firstly, we&#8217;d like to tell you a little history: the word \u201cvendimia\u201d comes from the Latin &#8220;vindemia&#8221;, a blend of &#8220;vinea&#8221; (vineyard) and &#8220;demere&#8221; (to pluck).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Essentially, it means harvesting grapes\u2014the timeless act that transforms humble fruit into the ambrosia of the gods: wine and<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.viajesmachupicchu.travel\/en\/tracing-the-roots-of-pisco-perus-distilled-treasure\/\"><strong> pisco<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pisco and wine production are an important part of Ica\u2019s tradition and economy. The toast was a great initiative, but what exactly is cachina? This drink ferments for 7 to 15 days, then people can enjoy it within 30 days.
