It\u2019s interesting to note that people called it white because volcanic rocks decorate the historic center. The large volcanic range that surrounds the region provides these rocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>377 kilometers from Arequipa, tucked between two huge volcanoes, Coropuna and Socabaya, there\u2019s a hidden gem that even we Peruvians have never heard of. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re talking about the Andagua Volcanoes Valley, or just \u201c Valley of the Volcanoes\u201d. Join us as we explore this not-so-popular but beautiful spot in Peru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is this Valley?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Valley of the Volcanoes is the Arequipa region\u2019s gem, in the Castilla Alta province. It gracefully stretches between elevations of 1,350 and 4,300 MASL. Andagua is 315 kilometers from Arequipa via the scenic Majes and Viraco Valleys, and 387 kilometers through the breathtaking Colca Valley and Caylloma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEl Valle de Andagua\u201d or \u201cAndaguya Valley is a captivating area that offers landscapes that blend breathtaking scoria cones and lava fields. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some formations are still young, whispering tales of fiery eruptions from the prehistoric era. It\u2019s a wonderful place to explore and appreciate nature&#8217;s beauty!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the valley&#8217;s lower reaches, the tranquil Chachas and Mamacocha lagoons glisten, both linked to the majestic <a href=\"https:\/\/viajesmachupicchu.travel\/en\/destinations\/colca-canyon\"><strong>Colca Canyon<\/strong><\/a>. In this charming place, friendly faces greet you at every turn. You\u2019ll find 35 endemic species, among which are 10 cacti. Freshwater species like shrimp and trout inhabit the Colca River, while the elusive otter, or &#8220;huallaque,&#8221; resides in Mamacocha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Andagua<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This tiny but lovely town offers a modern <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.viajesmachupicchu.travel\/en\/exploring-cuscos-plaza-de-armas-heart-of-the-city\/\" title=\"\">Plaza de Armas<\/a><\/strong>, beautifully surrounded by cypress trees shaped like animals and objects. At the center of the plaza stands a lovely baroque mestizo-style church that adds to the town&#8217;s character. Andagua is well-placed in the valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;You can easily access footpaths, mule trails, and roads to Arequipa, Chachas, Ayo, and the stunning Colca Valley. As you explore Andagua, you&#8217;ll be delighted by the picturesque farmlands.
