Let us delve into Inca Urco&#8217;s life and discover the lessons that his story contains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Background and Ascension<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Inca Urco was the son of Inca Emperor Viracocha and Curi Chulpi, the beloved daughter of a noble lord. He gave him the royal \u201cmascaipacha\u201d (crown) and officially recognized his rule in Cusco.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Urco took on his responsibilities through traditional ceremonies, which included sacrifices, celebrations, and marrying his main wife. However, his reign soon started to stray from the usual way of leading.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reign<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>During his time as a leader, the<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.viajesmachupicchu.travel\/en\/the-inca-empires-greatness-the-story-of-tahuantinsuyo\/\" title=\"\"> Inca Empire<\/a><\/strong> faced many challenges. He did not engage in conquests or missions, making the Incas feel vulnerable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many people raised their worries and asked for a change in leadership, but the fear of Viracocha held them back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This produced instability, and many generals tried to replace him. When the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.viajesmachupicchu.travel\/en\/the-chankas-the-fearless-warriors-who-defied-the-incas\/\" title=\"\">Chankas<\/a><\/strong> requested that the Incas submit to their authority, Viracocha Inca fled with Inca Urco, leaving Inca territory unprotected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, Viracocha\u2019s older son, Pachacutec, finally defeated the Chankas. His personal relationship choices, notably those involving women from lower socioeconomic groups, sparked controversy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People also saw him behaving inappropriately in public. Inca Urco sometimes made light of serious situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, he jokingly referred to others in ways that were not respectful. He did not focus on important projects or show competence in military matters.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His leadership relied heavily on the influence of his father, Viracocha. Overall, Inca Urco&#8217;s reign was marked by missed opportunities for growth and unity within the Inca community.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Downfall and Death<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Inca Urco felt a strong jealousy towards Pachac\u00fatec&#8217;s rising popularity and success. This led him to plot a plan to kill his older brother, Pachacutec.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> However, their efforts did not succeed. He often spent time with women outside of his marriage, which concerned some of his people.&nbsp;Some people also whispered about his dealings with the temple priestesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His drinking sometimes led to awkward moments in public, and he occasionally made comments to the nobles considered inappropriate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, he did not prioritize the city&#8217;s growth or military affairs, even though he was known for his generosity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Legacy<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Many historians and scholars see Inca Urco&#8217;s reign as a time of learning for Inca leadership. It appears that Tahuantinsuyo&#8217;s official historians chose to focus less on his presence in history, hinting that his rule was a disgrace to the empire.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In contrast, his brother Pachac\u00fatec is celebrated for his strong leadership and contributions to building the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.viajesmachupicchu.travel\/en\/the-chaski-swift-messengers-of-the-inca-empire\/\"><strong>Inca Empire<\/strong><\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inca Urco&#8217;s story reminds us of the importance of leaders&#8217; choices and their impact on their people.
