Covid-19: Peru is Certified as a Safe Tourist Destination for Traveling!

The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) introduced a global safety and hygiene stamp to inspire traveler’s confidence and accelerate the sector’s recovery following COVID-19. The new brand will recognize governments and companies that have adopted the WTTC health and hygiene protocols, known as “Safe Travels”, supported by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (OMT).

The purpose of this certified not only guarantees the safety of tourists, but also allows the recognition of companies and destinations that have adopted global standardized protocols. These protocols were developed in conjunction with WTTC members, governments, health experts and other associations in the tourism sector.

This a really important thing to help everybody in this pandemic times, that´s why we are proud to say that Peru received the Safe Travel Stamp, wich certifies destinations around the world  that are considered safe to travel.

Is it safe to travel to Peru?

The Incas ancient country was the third destination in America Latina to receive the certification, after Brazil and Ecuador, so Peru is a safe country to travel. The Safe Travel Stamp was awarded during the cerimony that took place in Machu Picchu, on October 15th.

In the case of Peru, the protocols adopted for tourism to restart in the country were evaluated and approved by the WTTC, following strict health safety standards, which guaranteed the Safe Travel Stamp for Peru.

The stamps says a lot about the responsability, safety and hygiene of the country against COVID-19, recognizes that the government did an excellent job and took all the security cares and adopted the effective and standardized protocols, wich increases the travelers trust in Peru.

“Peru is considered a major tourist destination in Latin America, internationally recognized for its attractions, such as the city of Lima, Cusco, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, in addition to the majestic Machu Picchu, Arequipa and Lago sua Titicaca, not to mention its prestigious gastronomy worldwide, ”said Gloria Guevara Manzo, president and CEO of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).

We need to warn that to enter the country, it is necessary to present a negative test for the new coronavirus, as well as to fill in the mandatory form of the Affidavit of health.

Machu Picchu reopen

In order to receive visitors with total security, the administration of Machu Picchu have implemented serious health and hygiene protocols, that´s why it´s allowed the access for only 675 tourists per day, which is equivalent to 30% of the total allowed capacity. Otherwise, groups should be formed by a maximum of eight people, including the local guide, in addition to respecting social distance.
